The 1st race of the year for the NCT series kicked off last weekend in Wenatchee, WA and unfortunately due to work schedule conflicts, I was unable to attend this race. Although…… my little spies are out and about and I am able to bring to you the race results and race write-up. Congrats to long time Team Associated driver, Chris “The Veteran” Bridgewater, for pulling off the hat trick. π
Here is the race report!
The start of the 2014 NCT Series was held in Wenatchee, WA this past weekend. With around 220 entries between 9 different classes, the tents, trailers and motor homes of the racers filled Eastmont Park where the track is located. Racers attended the season opener from Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Canada. The weather was in full cooperation even though wind speeds were fairly high, but the temperatures ranged from mid 50βs to low 60βs.
Team Associated had a strong group of drivers attending the race with 9 drivers entered in 6 different classes. Track conditions would deteriorate heavily during the weekend, making the track even harder for all the 1/10 cars and trucks. The team would go on to TQ 4 classes. Chris Bridgewater would claim TQ in 2wd modified, 4wd modified and 2wd SC while Mike Hudson would take TQ in modified truck.
When the dust settled (literally), Chris would go on to take the overall win in 2wd modified, 4wd modified and 2wd SC, a clean sweep, while Mike would take the overall win in modified truck. Out of the 12 cars in the 2wd modified main, 8 of them were Team Associated drivers as well as 6 drivers in the 4wd modified class.
A special thanks to Corey Ecalbarger and the RCCCW crew for putting on a great race and providing an exciting layout that produced some great racing. Round 2 will be held in Spokane, WA on May 23rd β 25th.
