The end of Cavalieri’s TQ streak in qualifying has come to an end as round 3 saw a few of the other elites earn their first TQ of the weekend. Although he wasn’t able to go 4 for 4 like in round 2, AE/Team Orion’s still was able to grab a few TQ’s.
Taking TQ in the 3rd round of modified SC was Ryan Cavalieri who had a tight battle with long-time friend TLR/Team Orion’s Ryan Maifield. Maifield was just able to edge out the young and talented Spencer Rivkin by just .3 seconds.
In modified truck, TLR/Team Orion’s Dakotah Phend was on fire and was able to earn his 1st TQ in the class keeping his overall TQ hopes alive. If Phend is able to TQ round 4, it would go to a tie-breaker to decide who starts at the front of the grid. Cavalieri was able to put in a solid 2nd with Kyosho/Team Orion’s Jared Tebo in 3rd for the round.
4wd modified saw the double world champion rise to the top as he able to just edge out Phend to earn his 3rd straight TQ in the class. With this win, Cavalieri locks up TQ for 4wd. Rivkin would round out the top 3 for round 3.
Hanging tough all weekend long, Kyosho/Team Orion’s Jared Tebo would earn a hard-fought battle to take TQ in 2wd modified. The top 5 drivers were all trading laps for the entire 6 minutes with Tebo emerging victorious by the narrowest margin of .2 seconds over Hartson. The 4wd world champion, AE/JConcepts’ Steven Hartson has finally found a good rhythm with a much improved handling car that resulted in his best finish. Cavalieri would finish 3rd by just .5 seconds behind Hartson.
In stock 17.5 SC, Kyle Layton would dash to the top of the leaderboard and remain fastest for the round over Tanner day by 2 seonds. Alexander Kreig would keep his solid run in SC with a top 3 run finishing 3rd.
Alan Wight was on fire putting himself in the front of the pack by just 1.5 seconds over Nathan Chase. Jeff Helms would finish 3rd for the round.
